They say you can tell a lot about a person from the applications installed on their mobile devices. Apps certainly have become a common feature of everyday life and, when it comes to fitness or travel, work or pleasure, there’s one out there to fit most needs.

So what are the must-have apps for 2015? The Daily Telegraph has compiled its top 10 to get you started and, if your New Year’s resolution was to become more productive or save time and money, there is definitely something below for you.

EVERNOTE

In the eternal search for greater productivity, Evernote is a digital notebook app that stores photos, web pages, PDFs, audio files and notes that can be accessed from any computer or smartphone. Its main selling point is an enhanced search function, which allows tags to be added to each note to making finding them easier.

Next on the list is, well, a list-making app. Quip enables you to take notes, edit documents and collaborate with your co-workers on projects. A chat system makes it easy to share information with other users in a group. Quip has been called the ”word processor app for the Facebook generation” since it has stripped out many of the bells and whistles found in traditional word processors and concentrated on the basics – a simple editing tool with collaboration and messaging.

This one should require no introduction since its creators say half of all UK SMEs already use Dropbox. It’s one of the biggest cloud-storage services available, enabling users to store, synchronise and share photos and files between devices. Do you struggle to finish the dozens of blogs and articles you browse every day? Then Pocket may be the app for you. When reading a post or viewing a video, you can save the page links to Pocket in order to easily find them again later. You won’t need to be online when reading content later although watching a video does require a connection. Its developers say 12 million people are already using it.

It’s January, so no list of apps would be complete without a fitness tool. Runmeter will keep track of your training, turning your iPhone into a powerful fitness computer.
